Hope you had an awesome new year. Perhaps you were one of the millions who created a new years resolution, followed by a big goal. While goal planning is a crucial piece of the puzzle, it's not much use if the goal doesn't resonate with your values.

Innovation Blueprint newsletter: Value Driven Planning and Goals

I like to spend time planning my year of living my values. Circumstances change, and that means sometimes a goal may not be achieved or that is no longer on path. Being clear about the values that are driving your goals enables you to always steer in the right direction no matter what conditions change.

Not achieving a goal can make us feel deflated, but knowing you've stayed true to your values can help you handle this set back. Achieving a goal that you don't value however can bring a sense of discontentment along with it.

Why not spend some time thinking about the values that drive your new year goals for 2014.

Here's a few for you to consider:

  • Acceptance
  • Adventure
  • Assertiveness
  • Authenticity
  • Caring/ self-care
  • Compassion
  • Connection
  • Contribution
  • Cooperation
  • Courage
  • Forgiveness

  • Order
